Starmer’s Resignation
The lead up to and the resignation of Sir Keir Starmer was quite the ride. Though potentially necessary to resign, I did feel there was a certain brutality about the whole thing, everyone knowing he was soon to be ousted from his position for Andy Burnham. It seemed like a stark example of how easily political parties can turn on their own when it’s perceived as necessary.
I decided to create a playful take on how this all felt to me.
I tried a new style of animation, combining 2d line work with 3d models. The idea was to try and have a simple but visually pleasing style that would allow me to make animations to a tight deadline. I was thinking this style could be useful for current events and social commentary as it has the potential to make clips in a very short time frame, whilst still being fun to look at. Obviously it’s not the most polished of pieces, but I felt the more rough stylistic choice added to the overall feel and worked well for satire such as this.
